Exploring Biztec's New Fundamental IT and Cyber Security Subscriptions

Writer's picture: BiztecBiztec

with Evan Fleak & Alex Tucker

Biztec, a local managed IT and physical security company based in Washington, West Virginia (WV), is taking subscription services to a new level. In today’s “I need it now” marketplace, consumers have access to a multitude of subscriptions. Whether it's for razors, skincare products, gourmet snacks, uninterrupted music, or even pet supplies, these subscriptions offer a tailored experience that meets a person’s needs and preferences.

While personal subscriptions offer great conveniences for individual consumers, Biztec is introducing subscription services specifically designed for businesses and organizations.

Why? – is the primary question. Why is Biztec rolling out subscriptions? What could an IT company possibly offer as a subscription?

The best way to discover the answers to these questions is to learn about the packages from Biztec’s own Evan Fleak, Implementations Lead, and Alex Tucker, Help Desk Manager.

Evan Fleak, Implementations Lead at Biztec
Evan loves to fix things and get our customer's technology back up and running. He is a Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate and Sophos Firewall Engineer and pairs this education with an associate’s degree. His education and experience have prepared him to address IT issues, no matter how small or large, making him an incredible asset at Biztec
Alex Tucker, Help Desk Manager at Biztec
Alex is the one you most frequently speak to when you call into the Help Desk! Biztec welcomed Alex to the team in 2019. He followed in his father’s footsteps and entered the IT industry in 2004 to utilize his knowledge and expertise. Alex grew up with computers laying around and has been fixing IT issues since the time of dial-up internet.

Understanding the Need for Fundamental IT and Cyber Security Subscriptions

Interviewer: What prompted the development of these new subscriptions? Were there specific challenges or demands you noticed in the market that needed a solution?

Evan: Companies don’t like spending money, but everyone loves paying monthly for their Netflix and Hulu. We decided to make basic computer hygiene more approachable by modeling it after your favorite subscription services!

Alex: Some of our customers’ needs don’t line up with a full Managed Services Agreement (MSA) solution. Everyone still needs network security, but maybe not access to a structured cabling team. Biztec’s subscriptions let you carve out the parts you need for your business.

Interviewer: How do these services align with Biztec’s overall mission and vision?

Evan: Small businesses don’t always see the need for basic computer hygiene and security awareness education. Biztec wants every small business’ computers to meet a fundamental level of maintenance and security. And for every employee to be able to recognize a suspicious email/website/text. These subscription-based offerings allow us to bring fundamental IT security & maintenance for small businesses to the forefront of the conversation, with a simple and understandable price.

Alex: This level of service is about being flexible for our customers. I believe this is one of our core values!

Subscriptions Overview

Interviewer: Can you give us an overview of Biztec’s subscriptions? What do they entail?

Evan: The offerings build on one another. Our lowest price option, the Biztec On subscription, includes the absolute necessities to make sure your computer continues to run smoothly and is protected from known threats on the internet. Biztec Plus introduces cyber security measures that every organization should have in place. Biztec Defend is our top-tier subscription and takes cyber security and basic IT support to the next level. Anyone can visit our website to see what specific services are in each package.

Interviewer: What is the purpose of these subscriptions?

Evan: These subscriptions offer only what we have determined through experience to be fundamental to the protection of companies’ data. None of these offerings are “new and exciting.” They are all tried and true methods of creating a safer and more reliable experience for employees who use computers every day.

Interviewer: Who do you think would benefit the most by utilizing these services?

Evan: Small businesses that do not spend any money on basic computer maintenance and protection. Small businesses that know computers are their lifeline, but don’t have the tools or resources to handle protecting their computers and training their employees to recognize suspicious emails.

Interviewer: What do you think customers will like the most about the subscriptions?

Alex: No Commitment!!

Evan: The commitment... to protecting their data!

Implementation

Interviewer: What does the implementation process look like for these new services?

Alex: Starts with a phone call to a friendly local technician!

Evan: With Biztec On, a quick phone call with a local technician to gather some details. After that we will send you links to the software to install on your PCs. That’s it! With Biztec Plus, it’s the same process, except we will send out an introductory email to the security awareness training to let you and your employees know what to expect. With Biztec Defend, implementation is once again the same, but we will need a little extra information that a local technician can talk through with you during our setup call.

Interviewer: How easy is it for clients to get started?

Alex: Very easy! With a few clicks, we can have remote access to your PC and begin installing the software stack. After that, it just works!

Interviewer: Do these subscriptions integrate with clients’ preexisting software and technology?

Alex: Our solutions are meant to work with any modern operating system.

Interviewer: Do the subscriptions have any requirements or limitations?

Alex: A modern operating system, and internet access.

Interviewer: What kind of resources do you provide to ensure clients can maximize the benefits of these services?

Alex: Biztec has a dedicated fiber backbone to ensure our techs and tools are available with the highest possible uptime.

Outlook & Expectations

Interviewer: What can customers expect to see moving forward? Are there plans for future updates or expansions to the subscriptions?

Alex: We are always evaluating new tools and stay on the forefront of technology. Our stack is always evolving!

Interviewer: Do you see these services evolving and becoming more of a trend in the technology industry?

Alex: We aren’t trying to be trendy; we just want to help.

Interviewer: What impact do you hope the subscriptions will have on Biztec’s clientele and the local industry?

Alex: Safer business is good for everyone!

Interviewer: Do you have any final thoughts on what we’ve talked about so far?

Alex: If you have a small business, and no IT department, you can have someone in your corner for less than a Netflix account.  That someone is a local, a neighbor, and they want to help you.

Conclusion

What Biztec’s subscriptions bring to the table are accessible, affordable, and proactive computer hygiene and cyber security solutions. Organizations, large and small, need protection and sometimes a full blown MSA isn’t a viable option. Biztec’s new offerings, however, are designed to safeguard organizations’ digital assets without breaking the bank.

In today’s world, where cyber threats are continuously evolving, having a reliable, cost-effective IT provider on your side is not a luxury – it’s a necessity. And with affordable solutions like Biztec’s subscriptions, organizations are able to access tools that will keep them safe.
